County Attorney

The Carbon County Attorney is an elected official who represents both Carbon County and the state of Montana within Carbon County. The County Attorney is responsible for the prosecution of all felony crimes occurring in the County, and all misdemeanor crimes occurring outside the city limits of any city within Carbon County. The County Attorney is responsible for defending or prosecuting all civil claims for or against the County and serves as the legal advisor for County officials. The Carbon County Attorney is prohibited from private practice and cannot represent private clients or give legal advice to private citizens. 7-4-27, MCA
