COMMISSIONERS’ PROCEEDINGS

August 8, 2016

Commissioners Doug Tucker, John Grewell, and John Prinkki were present.

8:30 Pledge of Allegiance

9:00 Road and Bridge Superintendent David Ohnstad, Joliet Foreman Shawn Mains, Bridger Foreman Rod Parker, and Red Lodge Foreman Eric Walker met with Commissioners to discuss Road and Bridge goals for the year. Melinda Cowger was present.

DES Coord. / GIS Mgr Tom Kohley joined the meeting to discuss protocols for dispatching County equipment to fires. Commissioner Tucker would prefer requests for mutual aid come from DNRC for out of county fires; for previous fires, requests came from the county’s DES Coordinator. Commissioner Grewell would like to ensure Carbon County would receive the same assistance response from neighboring counties; Commissioners will revisit mutual aid agreements with other counties at the MACo District meeting at the end of the month. Commissioner Grewell asked that liability issues be part of that discussion. Commissioner Grewell moved to allow the DES Coordinator, in cooperation with the Road Superintendent, to order out county equipment to fires within the county; Commissioner Tucker seconded; motion carried. David will put together a list of available equipment and associated costs.

9:15 Commissioners, Road Superintendent, and Foreman discussed various pavement repair and maintenance projects including scrub seals for the the Roberts Cooney Road and the West Pryor Road. 9:46 Alistair Baker joined the meeting. David will have pavement projects priority matrix to commissioners in the next week.

10:20 Alistair discussed the West Fork Road Reconstruction project with Commissioner Prinkki.

10:45 Tom Kohley met with Commissioners. He would like to update the Carbon Alert website and has received an $1,800 quote for a new template. With current budget limitations the Commissioners did not approve the update.
