COMMISSIONERS’ PROCEEDINGS
December 8, 2022
Commissioners Scott Miller and Bill Bullock; and Administrative Officer Angela Newell were present.
8:30 Pledge of Allegiance.
9:00 Sanitarian Barbara Krizek, Temp Sanitarian Scott Vandell, and Sanitarian Assistant Lori Kane met for the Environmental Health monthly update. Noted Engineering West is consumed by their own projects and will not be able to assist with reviews on a regular basis. Krizek noted she has inspected 70 systems and issued construction authorizations but has not had time to issue formal permits. Krizek requested the surplus budgeted wages be allocated to a temporary Administrative position; Bullock would like to delay a temp hire until the new Sanitarian is oriented. Krizek disagreed that the “admin” tasks would contribute to the orientation and training of the new sanitarian. Krizek lamented the educational burden on her office to inform the public on the permitting process. Discussion regarding the role of the Sheriff’s Code Enforcement Officer in public education; Commissioners do not necessarily see that as an essential role of the Officer. Discussion about getting new staff settled before adding additional staff on a temp basis so true capacity and needs of the office can be determined. Vandell recounted the short-term rental inspections.
9:30 Red Lodge Mayor Kristen Cogswell met for her regular meeting. Discussion about Airport and planning for a working session to discuss interlocal, business park proposal, and lease. Cogswell noted STR committee meets tonight and will make their final recommendation to planning. City is collecting resort tax on STRs.
Bullock moved to appoint the Board of Commissioners as the interim Administrative Board for the Bridger Fire district to authorize the disbursement of funds and to pay outstanding bills until a quorum of the Board can be properly established; Miller seconded; motion carried.
Bullock moved to approve the destruction of old Treasurer Checks as presented; Miller seconded; motion carried.
Miller moved to accept Clerk and Recorder, District Court, and Treasurer reports for November 2022; Bullock seconded; motion carried.
Miller moved to approve Claims for November 2022; Bullock seconded; motion carried.
12:00 Adjourned.
Respectfully submitted: Angela Newell, Administrative Officer
