COMMISSIONERS’ PROCEEDINGS

Commissioners Doug Tucker, John Grewell, and John Prinkki and Administrative Assistant Angela Newell were present.

8:30 Pledge of Allegiance

Commissioner Prinkki moved to accept Treasurer Cash report for January, 2017; Commissioner Grewell seconded; motion carried.

9:00 County Attorney Alex Nixon met with comm. Commissioner Prinkki has met with Peter Italiano City of Red Lodge to discuss the request to de-annex the Fairgrounds. The City has passed a resolution of intent, but has not yet scheduled the public hearing. The City’s trails plan includes a trail on County property through the portion that is to be de-annexed. The City would like to keep rodeo road; County would like land west of rodeo road de-annexed and other platted streets abandoned.

9:35 DES Coord. / GIS Mgr. Tom Kohley discussed fire response to area in eastern part of the county not covered by a fire district. Tom will look at different options for providing protection.

Commissioner Prinkki noted intends to work with Western Sky Solutions, a Public Relations firm, who has been hired by EverPower and would work on wind projects in McCone County. Commissioner Grewell and Alex suggest it would be in everyone’s best interest if John removed himself from EverPower dealings while still commissioner. Commissioner Grewell requested Commissioner Prinkki write a letter outlining his intentions and provide copies of emails with Western Sky Solutions discussing the terms of his future employment.

Jenna McKinney, Field Rep. from Senator Daines office, met with Commissioners. They discussed the E. Rosebud wild and scenic designation which has been stalled. They also discussed proposed federal lands transfer; Jenna noted Senator Daines has received significant opposition and opposes transfer. Commissioner Grewell noted one of the issues is the revenue generated on state owned land is significantly higher than federally owned land.
