10:00 Deputy County Attorney Shannon Foley and Contract Civil Deputy Jacque Papez met with Comm. Frank Annighofer met with Commissioners regarding waste services up E. Rosebud Road; Republic has not picked up garbage in about 6 weeks. Commissioners noted having problems with garbage pickup on main canyon and in other areas of County and will address issues with Republic.
DES Coord. / GIS Mgr. Tom Kohley joined the meeting. Jacque noted the County has not issued formal acceptance of the Simulcast Radio System. Jacque would like to include the cost of replacing the system and the $200/day penalty in the demand letter to Industrial Communications and Electronics; she will have a draft demand letter out later this week. Jacque also noted Industrial has not provided a proposal to fix the Simulcast Systems as requested in the County’s letter of April 2017. Jacque noted Burgen has requested to file an amended complaint.
10:30 Ken Coffin USFS District Ranger met with the Commissioners to discuss Forest Plan Revision Draft Proposed Action. Becky Grey was present. Ken noted the Forest is proposing adding a “backcountry” area in the Pryor Mountains. The designation would prohibit the addition of roads, trails, and communication towers, but would allow grazing to continue. The “backcountry” designation is different from a “recommended wilderness” area in that it gives some future flexibility in management. Ken noted the proposed Plan will not have any major changes to existing recreation areas. More language in proposed plan regarding watersheds including a Wild and Scenic rivers evaluation of rivers including E. Rosebud Cr. Lake Fork, Rock Creek, Stillwater River, W. Fork Rock Creek, W. Fork Stillwater, and W. Rosebud.
DES Coord. / GIS Mgr. Tom Kohley met to review draft letter to landowners regarding fire protection in eastern part of county
