COMMISSIONERS’ PROCEEDINGS
July 11, 2019
Commissioners Robert ‘Pits’ DeArmond, Scott Blain, and Bill Bullock, and Administrative Officer Angela Newell were present.
8:30 Pledge of Allegiance
DES Coord. / GIS Mgr. Tom Kohley met with Commissioners. He noted Tom Dunne will be down tomorrow to program road radios. Tom also presented the 911 Grant Agreement to replace mapping infrastructure in dispatch.
9:19 Commissioner Bullock moved to approve Justice Court End of Period Disbursement; Commissioner DeArmond seconded; motion carried.
Commissioner Bullock moved to approve Commissioners’ minutes for June 20, 24, and 27; Commissioner DeArmond seconded; motion carried.
9:50 Sheriff Josh McQuillan met with Commissioners regarding email system.
10:00 Sheriff Josh McQuillan and County Attorney Alex Nixon met with Commissioners for a phone conference with Montana Association of Counties (MACo) Attorney McKenzie McCarty regarding electioneering. McKenzie confirmed a Court House renovation bond would have to be a different ballot issue than a jail construction bond. Commissioners are only looking for a construction levy and do not believe an operating levy will be necessary. 10:10 the call with McKenzie was lost due to a power outage in Helena. Sheriff McQuillan and Alex discussed yesterday’s District Court Session; again, transporting prisoners to and from Court and multiple jail locations required a lot of deputy travel time. There was a discussion regarding creating a jail bond committee; Commissioners will wait for more guidance from MACo to determine the appropriate makeup of the committee.
12:00 Adjourned

Respectfully submitted: Angela Newell, Administrative Officer
