COMMISSIONERS’ PROCEEDINGS
July 23, 2018
Commissioners Robert ‘Pits’ DeArmond, Scott Blain, and Bill Bullock, and Administrative Officer Angela Newell were present.
8:30 Pledge of Allegiance.
David Davidson and Fromberg Mayor Shirley Miller were present.
DES Coord. / GIS Mgr. Tom Kohley met with Commissioners regarding the GeoComm Support Agreement Renewal. Commissioners approved and signed the renewal agreement.
Tom and Commissioners also discussed the Cherry Springs Fire over the weekend. The fire was human caused and burned about 60 bales of hay, but no structures were affected. Commissioners would like to establish a more formal protocol with local rural fire districts and Sheriff’s dispatch for deployment of road equipment resources. The Commissioners would prefer the Fire Chief or Dispatch call them or Tom to request road resources rather than a foreman.
9:00 Fromberg Mayor Shirley Miller met with Commissioners regarding road maintenance in the Town of Fromberg. Mayor Miller discussed areas in Fromberg that the town would like to contract with the county to repair. She expects the work will take 2-3 weeks. Commissioner Blain asked about contracting with a construction company; Mayor Miller received a quote from Jerry Sticka in the amount of $16,000, but did not include labor as it was assumed Town employees would perform the labor; as those employees have left that is no longer an option. The quote she received from Harddrives was $95,000, but the Town only has a $50,000 budget for the projects. Commissioner Blain noted his road crew does not have time to do the work as they are still fixing roads from flood damage in addition to regular maintenance on county roads. Commissioner DeArmond agreed the Town should to contract with another entity as the County does not have the time to do extensive repairs on municipal streets.
Commissioner Blain moved to approve claims for the special July check run for 2018; Commissioner DeArmond seconded; motion carried.
Commissioner Blain moved to approve Commissioner Proceedings for July 9, 2018; Commissioner DeArmond seconded; motion carried.

He also met with other

Montana representative at the National Association of Counties regarding legislative priorities.

10:50 DES Coord. / GIS Mgr. Tom Kohley met with Commissioners to request to move his office to the Personal Services Building in the offices vacated by the Office of Public Assistance. Commissioners approved the move request.
