COMMISSIONERS’ PROCEEDINGS

Commissioners Scott Miller, Scott Blain, and Bill Bullock; and Administrative Officer Angela Newell were present.
8:30 Pledge of Allegiance.
9:00 Sanitarian Barbara Krizek, Temporary Sanitarian Scott Vandell, and Sanitarian Assistant Lori Kane met with Commissioners for the department’s monthly update. Krizek reviewed her written report (attached). Vandell reviewed vacation rental inspections; he noted proof of a State license is now required by City of Red Lodge to renew business licenses so many unlicensed establishments are being discovered. Kane noted about 35 well test kits have been distributed to help those flooded check the integrity of their well water. Krizek discussed the need for an additional 1FTE Registered Sanitarian. Discussion about the Department’s budget; because of hiring challenges it was discussed to renew the Temporary Sanitarian position and move forward with hiring a Full-Time Permanent Sanitarian (who may need to be a Sanitarian in Training for up to a year). Miller moved to approve the addition of a 1 FTE Sanitarian or Sanitarian in Training; Blain seconded; motion carried. The Part-Time Temporary position will be reestablished for 8 months. Discussed Kane’s job description, time split between Sanitarian and Superintendent of Schools and Krizek’s request to increase Kane’s wage to the Administrative Clerk level of 80% of the Elected Official Base Wage. Blain moved to approve the Environmental Health Department Administrative Assistant Job Description as amended; Miller seconded; motion carried. The wage increase will be confirmed with Lori Lynde before taking effect.

10:00 County Attorney Alex Nixon met with Commissioners for his regular meeting. Discussed
10:30 Red Lodge Mayor Kristen Cogswell joined the meeting.
11:00 Disaster and Emergency Services (DES) Coordinator Cyrina Allen met with Commissioners to confirm the County has received an Individual Assistance Designation from the President in relation to the flooding earlier this month. Discussion about garbage removal in Fromberg and their designation of emergency manager (there is pushback to designate Allen as their representative).
11:30 Deputy County Attorney Robert Spoja met with Commissioners to discuss purchase of case management software. Blain moved to approve, Miller seconded; motion carried. Spoja also presented a purchase request for two (2) more iPad setups for a cost of approximately $1,580. Blain moved, Miller seconded, motion carried.
Miller moved to approve Commissioners Proceedings for May 12th and 17th; Blain seconded; motion carried .

11:50 Justice of the Peace Kevin Nichols met with Commissioners regarding Clerk Shelly Butler’s request to reduce her hours. Meeting was closed to discuss the personnel issue. 12:00 Meeting reopened. Blain moved to approve schedule change as requested; Miller seconded; motion carried.
