COMMISSIONERS’ PROCEEDINGS        

          October 8, 2015

          Commissioners Doug Tucker and John Prinkki were present.

      8:30 Pledge of Allegiance.

          9:00 DES Coordinator Tom Kohley met with Commissioners regarding weather stations.

          Contract Planners Brent Moore and Monica Plecker and Sanitarian Josh Juarez met with Commissioners regarding Western Ranch Estates flood plain enforcement issues. All but 6 of the original 20 porta toilets have been removed. DEQ still receiving complaints from the Helsper’s and will take action on the remaining porta toilets. They will have a meeting with Ms. Helsper regarding additional structures that are in violation of flood plain regulations. They will also send out corrective action letters to landowners per Subdivision Regulations.

          9:15 County Attorney Alex Nixon joined the meeting.

Brent and Monica have been working with the Conservation District to get 310 permits forwarded to them. In most cases, a floodplain permit has also been required. Monica has sent letters to each applicant notifying them what additional information is required for floodplain permits as FEMA’s standards for supporting documentation surpass what the Conservation District requires. She noted that FEMA is looking more closely at local jurisdictions to ensure standards set by FEMA are being followed.

          9:30 Deputy County Attorney Jacque Papez joined the meeting.

          10:00 Fair Board appointment Marcella Manuel in attendance. Asked why FFA has voting voice on board and 4H does not. Commissioner Tucker moved to appoint Chrissy Frank to fill out the remainder of Alan Wetstein’s term to end 12/31/2015, and for an additional 3 year term to end 12/31/2018; Commissioner Prinkki seconded; motion carried.
